Season 2019/2020
In the first season for AC Milan Leo Duarte did not get many chances to prove his qualities. This was mainly because the rossoneri had already starting pair in the center of the defense (Romagnoli and Musacchio). However the two injuries which struck him had big impact on Duarte’s season as well. Right after Leo managed to collect few appearances for the rossoneri he injured his ankle after which he underwent surgery. Because of this injury Duarte missed 17 weeks or more than 4 months. However he did not managed to start playing as he injured himself once again. This time Hamstring injury kept him out of the fields for another 10 weeks. Duarte managed to fully recover from both injuries and was available for the 36th game of the season in Serie A with Atalanta. However he spent it on the bench, same as the 37th game with Sampdoria. Stefano Pioli gave chance to Leo in the last Serie A game of the season with Cagliari as he entered as sub and played 11 minutes. Duarte should prepare well in the pre-season and try to impress Pioli in order to get more playing time in the new 20/21 as AC Milan will play in Europa League as well.
